This lovely little butterfly, formerly resident in England, but now extinct there, can still be found in parts of the Scottish Highlands. These were photographed at the Allt Mhuic Reserve on  Loch Arkaig north of Fort William. This wonderful site, more or less halfway along a 20 mile length of no through road also boasts Pearl and Small Pearl Bordered Fritillary, Scotch Argus and Large Heath, and Argent and Sable and Narrow Bordered Bee Hawk Moth. Amongst the orchids, I'm told you can find Lesser Twayblade. I can see I'll have to go back next year.
