These lovely little waders pass through Cornwall in spring and autumn on their way in and out of the country. Essentially a bird of high ground, they are often looked for on the higher slopes of the Cairngorms. However, I got lucky in September 2010 when a pair turned up on Davidstow Airfield, and provided me with my first ever sight of this species, and an all too brief photo opportunity, before being spooked by a car driving too close. They flew to a distant area on the grass, too far away for decent photographs.
