A butterfly that you never see settled with its wings open, the grayling will lean whilst on the ground, to minimise the shadow that it casts, in an effort to hide from predators. found more commonly in the western half of these islands, and with a bias towards the coasts, it can be found from July to September, preferring areas of light or sparse vegetation.
