Hastings Pier
In the autumn of 2010, Hastings pier was on the verge of being compulsorily purchased by the Council when it was torched, and severely damaged by the resulting fire. The Hastings Pier & White Rock Trust are working hard to raise funds to stabilise the remaining structure, and prevent the "bridge" area (the part of the pier with no superstructure) from falling into the sea, as the lack of decking in this area means it is very vulnerable to collapse in inclement weather.
These photos were taken a couple of weeks after the event, and the sunset shot was taken on my birthday some ten years ago.
