Pheasants

The white pheasant is the result of selective breeding. It is a mutation of the Common Pheasant which has been bred for shooting. They are beautiful birds but although they are known among game enthusiasts they are not recognised as a wild species. This one was found on the slopes of May Hill in October 2007. My thanks to Allandoo Pheasantry for the identification.
