Starling
The starling roost at Par Beach Pools has been slowly building during november 2010, and on the 21st numbers of birds was well into four figures, and this section of the flock hove into view just as I was photographing the moon.

In November / December 2010 the starling roost at Par Beach grew to over 10000 birds, and the photographs above illustrate just a few of the birds as they cam into roost, on a number of different days.
In early November 2010 I visited my old stamping ground in Eastbourne, and on my birthday, found the start of a starling roost at the pier. Hopefully this will get larger as the winter goes on, and become a more impressive sight.

In variable and low light, the ISO got pushed up towards the upper end, and viewed close up these are comparatively grainy shots, which I have not run through any of the software available to reduce the noise. Even this comparatively small number of birds managed to produce some fascinating "patterns" as they wheeled in the air.
