These  are rare birds in Britain, although they are making something of a recovery, with a considerable effort being made to improve habitat for them. Their strongholds are on Salisbury Plain, and in the Brecklands in Norfolk, at Weeting Heath where these pictures were taken. This pair of birds were trying to hatch their third clutch of eggs this summer, having had two previous failures.
